In search of great beer friends – local beloved yakiniku restaurant

by Naomi

A hottest season is the best time for Yakiniku (Japanese style BBQ) – don’t you know?

It’s my 28th summer season in the life. The office says this summer is crazily hot so I am writing this blog to introduce how to feel better in the steaming heat. Seems like the strong sunbeam drives us nuts so a revenue stream of beers is unlimited. Once beer gets sold well, their bestie – Yakiniku gets popular too. Yes, today this post takes you a great Yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo!

Kameido Horumon 亀戸ホルモン, A Yakiniku restaurant, Kameido station

Starting from 4:30pm, no reservation accepted. It sounds not traveler friendly, maybe it’s true. But the strict rule is for everyone including locals so I rather think this is for travelers who have more flexibility in weekdays.

To get a table, recommending to arrive the place just on the opening hour. The staff will ask the party size – four or less is safer in my experience. Once you have a table, you’ll see they offers a great selection of beef for BBQ, beef sashimi and organs. Sashimi is sold in soon so I recommend to be there for the first slot.

NOTE: Food order is one time only – make sure that you are fully ready to order everything you want except drinks. Drink order is accepted anytime.

The selection is changing day by day but I leave my picks with notes. Hope it helps to make you hungry ?

Nikomi

Nikomi 煮込み, Soy sauce beef stew

Mixed beef meat stew is a good choice as a hot appetizer. Tossed with a pinch of hot chill (prepared at every table) makes it much better.

Wagyu Harami Sashimi

Wagyu Harami Sashimi 和牛ハラミ刺し, Limited beef sashimi

Only god knows if this special plate is served in your visit day. The mouth melting raw meat is tender, and sweet soy sauce and egg yolk come out with rich flavor!

Shabu, thin wagyu yakiniku

Shabu しゃぶしゃぶ, Thin wagyu yakiniku

Slices of thin beef meat are softly burned with fire for texture – savoy sauce and egg yolk will blow your mind!

How have you been? I was like…

It’s been a while since I made the last post.

In the past two years, Tokyonites experienced five or six times of lockdown, and three times of vaccinations (if you are living in Tokyo and lucky enough, maybe four times).
After the long long period covered by a face mask, finally we are allowed to take it off and go for drinks in public.

So, meanwhile, I was too busy for my food adventure in town! And I realized that the joy of food is not just cooking by myself, but visiting dining places is also fun. A few months (or more), here I came back with my where-to-eat list. I am pretty ready to open the list in my blog.

Hope you will like my favorite!
